Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars that typically emerge during the late teen years or early twenties. Not everyone has all four wisdom teeth, and for some, they may never come in at all. When wisdom teeth emerge improperly or don’t have enough space to grow, they can cause a variety of dental issues, including pain, swelling, infection, or misalignment of other teeth. In these cases, removal may be necessary to avoid further complications.

Call to Schedule Connect with UsWisdom teeth may need to be removed if they are impacted (unable to emerge properly), causing pain, infection, or misalignment of other teeth. They may also need to be removed if there isn’t enough space in your mouth for them to grow properly.
The procedure involves numbing the area with local anesthesia or offering sedation, depending on your preference. The wisdom teeth are then carefully removed by our dentist or oral surgeon.
The procedure itself is painless because of the anesthesia or sedation. After the procedure, some swelling and discomfort are normal, but this can be managed with pain medication and proper aftercare.
Most people experience some swelling and discomfort for 2-3 days following the extraction. Full recovery may take a few weeks, but most patients can resume normal activities within a few days.
While complications are rare, possible risks include infection, dry socket (when the blood clot is dislodged), or damage to surrounding teeth or nerves. Following the post-procedure care instructions can help minimize these risks.
